Confession Time

Okay, so it may be time for a little confession here.
Or a reality check.
Probably both.

I am fairly certain that I have overestimated just how much my heart can take.
In fact, I feel it hastily nearing its breaking point.

I really thought that I could do this and that it would somehow be easier this time around.

Man, I don't think anyone has ever been more wrong!

Yep, just heard a crack.

Breaking point is near =(

Mason

We'd like you to meet...

Mason!

At the visit with his birth mom this past week, I asked for her permission to post his picture here on my blog.  Since I won't be using his real name and this is only really viewed by our friends and family, she graciously agreed.

Isn't he just adorable?!?!?!

Mason really is a dream baby!  He sleeps at least 10 hours straight through the night, he is very cuddly and really only cries when he is hungry.  He weighs about 13.5 lbs, and every ounce of that is pure delight!  Mike and I just love snuggling with our little "chunkers"!!!

And Ian absolutely adores him!!!  This was the first time that the two of them met.

Look at that smile...How sweet is that?

These two boys are so sweet together.
Ian is a GREAT big brother!!!

Such a good helper!!
I thought that Ian might be a little jealous having a new baby around, or even a bit indifferent, but that is definitely NOT the case!  He loves little Mason and is so sweet with him. The first words out of his mouth every morning are, "Where is my baby?"  He is always willing to help change a diaper or replace a binkie when it falls out of Mason's mouth.  He is so sweet and it brings me so much joy to see him as a brother!

It is still very early in the case and at this point, it could go either way, but we have a feeling that little Mason will eventually be reunified with his Mom. It makes us very sad, because we are already so in love with this sweet little guy, but we are just taking it one day at a time and loving him to pieces while we can!!

Our first family photo

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this picture!!

First trip to the zoo.

The first time I held this sweet boy
He loves Mikey!

Life is sure good these days and I LOVE having two little boys!  This precious little guy is so special and I feel very blessed for every single minute we have with him.  His little face and smile has definitely already carved its own special place in my heart=)

Two and a Half

How in the world did my baby get to be two and a half?!?!?!

Maybe having a little, tiny clone of him around the house is bringing back the memories of his baby days with vivid clarity, but I really cannot believe he is that old!  Time really does fly by when you are having fun!

Riding the Alpine Slide with his Uncle David
Ian actually turned two and a half at the beginning of July, but I am just now getting around to accepting it.  Even though I am excited to see what each new phase of his life will bring, I am sad to admit that he isn't really a baby anymore=(  He is the sweetest little man and my best little buddy.  I love spending time with him!  Don't get me wrong though, he is most definitely getting to be an expert at the terrible two's!  He can throw a tantrum like the best of them, but he is still so sweet too, and I am SO loving life with this cool little man right now.

Here are a few things about Ian at two and a half...

He is a chatterbug and he talks really, really well!  People are often surprised to hear his age because he speaks like he's several years older  He retains, and often repeats, every word he hears (not always a good thing!) and actually has pretty good grammar already!  It is really fun to have conversations with him and hear how his little mind is working.  He is starting to understand the whole "make believe" thing and is getting quite imaginative! It is so fun to hear him pretending to be Batman or talking to his dragons=)

He loves arts and crafts like painting, Play Doh, coloring or playing in his rice bin.

He doesn't like to eat.  He is quite picky and is usually much more interested in playing than eating.  I know he won't starve himself, but I so wish it weren't such a battle every day!  Every once in a while he will surprise us all and pack away a half a pizza, but usually it is a struggle to get him to eat anything!
(Letting him eat outside seems to help=)

As has been the case from day one, he LOVES to be outside!  He is big enough now to have neighborhood friends, and he loves playing outside with them.  I thought it was so cute the first time one of them rang our doorbell to ask, "Can Ian play?"  He is very social and we are enjoying the friendships he is making.  With the nice warm summer weather, it is really hard to get him to come inside at all!

He also loves riding his scooter and I love that he knows he has to wear a helmet to even set foot on it!=)

He just finished swimming lessons for the summer, and he did really well!!

Hmmm...to swim or not to swim today...

He didn't always want to go to class, but once we got there, he (usually) listened really well and took to it really fast.  He can float on his back on his own and can scoop and kick like a fish.

He is also an amazing little tumbler.  He can often be found doing flips and somersaults all over the house. Of course, he still loves dancing, but has now added jumping off the furniture and doing flips to his dance routines.

Although he went in the potty the first day we got him a new potty seat, he seems to have no desire whatsoever at doing it again.  Oh well... all in due time.  If I am being completely honest, I don't push it because I don't think I am quite ready to give up diapers.  I like being able to play outside without having to run inside every 20 minutes.  Maybe we will try in the winter months when we are more home bound.

He is a great helper and loves to help me with housework, grocery shopping or taking care of the baby.

He loved getting to help Papa recently as he built us a storage shed!!

He is smart, funny, and keeps us laughing every day.  I am so grateful to have Ian in my life and I am so excited that I get to experience every phase of his life with him.  It seems like the older he gets, the more fun he is to have around, and I love him to pieces!!  I cannot imagine my life without him in it and I am so grateful that I won't ever have to!!

Aint that the truth?!?!=)
