Bear Lake 2011

The view from our campsite
If any of you have ever tried to go camping on the 4th of July weekend before, you know that if you don't plan early, you don't get a site.  So, having done this before, we planned early and reserved our spot sometime around January, smack in the middle of winter.  At that time, warm weather, sand and water seemed like a wonderful idea.

Well, now that our camping trip has come and gone, I am willing to admit that I was totally freaked out at the idea of two nights in a tent with Ian.  The closer we got to our camping trip, the more stressed out I became and the idea stopped seeming like such a good one!  The image of a mosquito-bite covered baby screaming all night in the freezing tent, keeping the entire campground awake, was all I could think about for days.

I am happy and proud to say that this did NOT happen!  Our little man is a trooper!!!  He loved it at Bear Lake.  My worst fears turned out to be nothing at all.  Well, we did get mosquito bites, despite spraying bug spray continuously the entire weekend.

They didn't get this little man down!
And the tent was not freezing.  In fact the second night was so warm, we didn't even get inside our sleeping bags, we just laid on top of them. And Ian must've been tired from all the playing, because he slept like a dream both nights!!

Such a sweet baby!!!

It was really a fun trip.  However, we decided that we either cannot have another child, or we need to get a motor home before next summer.  Our car was packed to near bursting!!!

All Ready to go!!!
We do this trip each summer (with the exception of last year) with Mike's sister Kristin, and her husband Jim's family.  They seem like part of our family too and we love spending time together.  My sister and her family have come the last couple of  years too and we all had a great time!

I didn't want to take my camera to the beach, so I missed getting a picture of Ian's first ride on a wave runner, a.k.a. "Ski Jet".  =(
He wanted to ride it the second we pulled into camp and he spotted it.  So the first chance we got, he was all for it!  We bought him a new life jacket for this trip, so we strapped it on him and aunt Kerry took him for his first ride.  He loved it!!  She said he was the youngest rider she had taken (some of the older kids won't even sit on it when it's docked) and he even asked her to go a little faster=)

Here are a few beach pictures for you however, that I stole from Kelsey (Jim's brother Colin's girlfriend).  Thanks Kelsey!

We practically melted in the heat, but we all had a great time!  We came home with more than a few bug bites, and some funky tan lines, but also some really fun memories too!!!
